Leadership development is an ongoing process of learning and self-discovery. What's the difference for women?

Clues for Breaking the Glass Ceiling

The results were surprising. In a recent study based on the responses of about 3,000 male and female executives plus a 360 assessment including 22,000 of their supervisors, peers and subordinates, the results weren't what the researchers were expecting. Women ranked highest in almost every category of leadership except the crucial ability to have and communicate a vision.

Why? Was it really a weakness or was it a false perception based on differences in style? Several suggestions were offered, but the most important outcome of studies like these is awareness of perceived issues and integration within development programs for women. Becoming aware of a potential problem - whether real or perceived - is the first step in managing it. This program covers the fundamentals of leadership within the context of the unique needs, perceptions and challenges women face in the workplace.

About the Program

The intense 6-month program consists of monthly workshops (3 hours each) and requires approximately 5 hours of effort per month to complete assignments. Assignments include reading, active inquiry, reflecting and group communication. The instructional design of the program is experiential in nature (i.e., learning by doing) and respects the different learning styles of each participant. It is led by an award winning facilitator with over 15 years experience in helping people realize their full potential.

A maximum of 12 people will be enrolled in the class to encourage the development of supportive relationships that will endure beyond the class. Each participant will construct a personalized plan for continuing development by the conclusion of the program. A one on one coaching session will be offered for each participant at the end of the program to provide support and recommendations for implementing personal development plans.

Cost is $1250 per person and includes all materials. Group discounts are available. An optional program of monthly lunch and learn sessions is available as a follow up for continued learning and support. Individual coaching is available as needed.
